Heartistic Freedom

What is Heartistic Freedom?

As part of my healing journey, I rediscovered art and other forms of creative expression which helped me work through difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences that talk therapy sometimes couldn’t address. It also helped me to connect with an inner child that got incredible joy from playing with color, texture, sound and a wide variety of materials and expressions that let my imagination go wild and sometimes even make a mess!! In my creative play time, I let go of all the rules and just follow the flow of whatever comes to mind. As my practice and my playfulness grew, I shared the experience I was having with others who then expressed an interest in participating, and soon Heartistic Freedom was born.

Heartistic Freedom is a compassionate community where people use creativity and play to heal and grow in joy. In our groups, sessions generally begin with a brief grounding exercise, then a theme or topic is offered that participants can use as inspiration for their creativity. We often enjoy music during our creative play time (feel free to turn off the volume if it doesn’t suit you) and then also have time at the end to share reflections on the creative practice and any insights that arose in the process. It is a great way to help awaken your inner artist, reconnect with creativity, and build community with others who share your interest. And it also happens to be quite therapeutic as well. This isn’t a formal art class with how-to instructions, but rather an open playground for you to explore with whatever materials you already have on hand (I love to repurpose materials like empty boxes, junk mail, old books or magazines and broken crayons!) Come check us out as see where your creativity may take you.
